On the banks of the River Chiese, in Vobarno (Brescia), stands one of the production facilities of Valsir S.p.A., a leading Italian manufacturer of systems for plumbing, underfloor heating, construction and bathroom design. The external facade of the plant — over 2,200 square metres — is separated from the road by a channel of the River Chiese, and had accumulated layers of dirt, industrial dust and grease over time, compromising both the appearance and the maintenance of the building envelope.
FES Global Group carried out a professional cleaning operation, working in close proximity to the canal with the utmost attention to the surrounding environment, restoring a clean and uniform appearance to the walls of the production site.
Phases of the intervention
1. Site preparation and traffic management
Prior to the start of works, FES installed and managed temporary traffic lights along the provincial road adjacent to the plant, positioning them each morning and removing them at the end of the working day, ensuring the safety of the site area throughout the duration of the intervention.
2. Positioning of the working platform
To reach the full extent of the facade, operators worked from a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP), advancing in horizontal strips from top to bottom in a controlled and systematic manner, maintaining the utmost attention to the proximity of the River Chiese canal.
3. Application of detergent by nebulisation
A detergent specifically formulated for industrial surfaces was applied by nebulisation in strips across the facade, in sections corresponding to the working area, optimising contact time and treatment effectiveness.
4. Mechanical scrubbing
Following the detergent dwell time, the surface was mechanically treated with a brush, effectively removing accumulated dirt, grease and industrial dust deposits.
5. Rinse with hot water pressure washer
The final phase of each strip involved a high-pressure rinse with hot water, completely removing detergent residues and ensuring a thorough, uniform clean across the entire treated surface.
Works carried out by FES
Chemical washing is a professional surface cleaning technique that combines the mechanical action of pressurised water with specific detergents applied at controlled temperature. This method effectively removes dirt, organic deposits, grease and residues from large vertical surfaces, making it particularly suited to industrial facades and structures subject to significant environmental exposure.
Results
The intervention restored a uniform and clean appearance to the Valsir plant facade across all 2,200 sqm treated, eliminating years of industrial deposits quickly and with minimal impact on the operational continuity of the plant. The phased approach and logistical planning of the site allowed works to be completed on schedule, with operators on site Monday to Friday throughout the working day.
