The Rondissone toll plaza, located along the A4 motorway in the Province of Turin, is a key infrastructure for road mobility in Northern Italy. The toll station plays a strategic role in connecting Piedmont and Lombardy and is subject to a high volume of daily traffic.
In 2014, the infrastructure underwent a refurbishment project involving the entire toll plaza complex, with the aim of preserving its functionality, safety and long-term durability.
Goals:
The refurbishment project was commissioned by SATAP S.p.A. (Società Autostrada Torino–Milano) and focused on the overall upgrading of the infrastructure in a context characterised by:
continuous and intense traffic flow
constant exposure to weather conditions
the need to ensure high safety and reliability standards

Mechanical cleaning of surfaces using compressed-air abrasives to remove rust, scale, old paint, and impurities, creating a rough profile optimal for coating adhesion.
Applied treatments prevent material degradation caused by chemical and atmospheric agents. These protective coatings extend the life and functionality of steel surfaces, forming a barrier against oxidation and aggressive substances.
Results
The intervention contributed to the functional restoration and overall refurbishment of the Rondissone toll plaza, improving the condition of the infrastructure and ensuring its reliability over time.
This project confirms FES’s ability to operate on strategic public infrastructure and motorway assets, working alongside major concessionaires such as SATAP S.p.A. and contributing to the enhancement of Italy’s infrastructure heritage.
