Vigorelli Velodrome
Milan, Italy
FES Global Group contributed to the renovation of the Vigorelli Velodrome in Milan, giving new life to one of Italy’s most iconic sports facilities. Opened in 1935, the Velodrome is a historic venue for cycling competitions, concerts, and sporting events. Through a comprehensive restoration, it has been fully revitalized and is now ready to host a new generation of athletes and spectators.
The main goal was to restore and strengthen the metal and load-bearing structures, preserving the Velodrome’s historical identity while enhancing structural durability and protection against environmental exposure.
The client's goal:
The City of Milan commissioned FES to carry out surface restoration and protective treatment for the severely deteriorated internal and external metal structures. The goal was not only aesthetic improvement but also long-term structural reinforcement and protection against corrosion and weathering.
Our services
Mechanical cleaning of surfaces using compressed-air abrasives to remove rust, scale, old paint, and impurities, creating a rough profile optimal for coating adhesion.
Application of specialised powder paints offering superior chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, ensuring coating durability even in extreme environments.
Applied treatments prevent material degradation caused by chemical and atmospheric agents. These protective coatings extend the life and functionality of steel surfaces, forming a barrier against oxidation and aggressive substances.
Results
The renovation successfully restored the Vigorelli Velodrome’s structural and aesthetic integrity, maintaining its historic character. Treated surfaces are now fully protected, durable, and compliant with modern safety standards, ensuring that this landmark sports facility remains functional and visually impressive for years to come.
