Venice Marco Polo Airport
Venice, Italy
FES took part in the construction of the new terminal extension at Venice Marco Polo International Airport, one of Italy’s most important hubs for passenger and cargo traffic. The project involved structural and functional works, contributing to the expansion of the airport’s capacity and improving safety and efficiency.
This intervention was a key step in strengthening mobility in North-East Italy: FES ensured the new terminal structures were treated with certified passive fire protection and long-lasting anti-corrosion systems, guaranteeing durability and safety for millions of passengers.
The goal:
The client, SAVE S.p.A., required FES to carry out treatments on steel structural elements of the new terminal area.
The main objectives were:
to provide long-term corrosion protection
to ensure REI-certified fire resistance
to comply with safety standards for public infrastructure with high passenger flow
Our work
Application of specialised powder paints offering superior chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, ensuring coating durability even in extreme environments.
Applied to load-bearing steel structures, intumescent coatings expand under heat, forming an insulating barrier in case of fire. All treatments were carried out in full compliance with fire safety regulations for public buildings and airport infrastructure.
Results
The FES intervention delivered:
steel structures with advanced anti-corrosion protection
REI fire resistance certification
durable technical finishes reducing future maintenance needs
The new area of Venice Marco Polo Airport is today a modern, safe, and efficient terminal, ready to support future growth.
