2025

Between April and July 2025, FES carried out a major rehabilitation and protection project on the A22 Trento Sud motorway viaduct, treating both concrete and steel surfaces. The main goal was to preserve the structure over time, ensuring safety and resistance to atmospheric agents along a high-traffic motorway section.

Careful site organisation and phased planning, including night shifts, ensured maximum efficiency and safety, with no disruption to motorway traffic.

Project phases

1. Site preparation

The project began with the setup of the worksite, including safety fencing, platforms, and systems required to operate safely and efficiently, even in proximity to live motorway traffic.

2. Surface preparation

Bridge surfaces were cleaned and prepared using sandblasting and high-pressure water jetting, removing dirt, rust, and contaminants to guarantee maximum adhesion of the protective coating cycle.

3. Primer application

A high-solids, surface-tolerant epoxy primer was applied to both concrete and steel structures, ensuring long-lasting durability and protection.

3. Protective finishing

The final layer consisted of a semi-gloss, high-build polyurethane-acrylic enamel, chosen for its mechanical resistance, surface hardness, and long-term colour and gloss retention.

Our services

Mechanical cleaning of surfaces using compressed-air abrasives to remove rust, scale, old paint, and impurities, creating a rough profile optimal for coating adhesion.

Application of specialised powder paints offering superior chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, ensuring coating durability even in extreme environments.

Applied treatments prevent material degradation caused by chemical and atmospheric agents. These protective coatings extend the life and functionality of steel surfaces, forming a barrier against oxidation and aggressive substances.
