FES was selected by Pata S.p.A., a leading food industry company, to deliver a passive fire protection solution using intumescent coatings and metal painting for the steel structures at their Brescia plant. The project aimed to secure beams and metal framework with a full cycle of certified fireproofing products, including primer, REI-rated intumescent paint, and water-based finishing.
This project demonstrates how FES combines advanced technology, safety, and design to ensure long-lasting fire protection for industrial steel structures.
Project phases
1. Surface preparation and protection
The FES team secured the workspace with protective sheeting to prevent contamination. Steel beams and structures were mechanically sanded and meticulously cleaned to guarantee perfect adhesion for the coating system.
2. Anti-corrosion primer
A water-based primer was applied using airless systems, providing corrosion resistance suitable for food industry standards and preparing the surfaces for the intumescent fireproofing layer.
3. Intumescent coating application
Certified water-based intumescent paint was applied to increase fire resistance, ensuring passive fire protection performance compliant with European REI standards.
4. Protective and aesthetic finishing
After full drying of the intumescent layer, a water-based finishing coat in the selected RAL color was applied for durability, aesthetic consistency, and additional surface protection.
