Ferrero Mangimi
Bergamo, Italy
At the Urgnano plant in Bergamo, FES carried out a major industrial silos restoration project for Ferrero Mangimi S.p.A., addressing ageing structures affected by time and intensive use.
The intervention focused on structural refurbishment and surface conservation, ensuring durability, safety, and continuous efficiency in a high-demand production environment.
The client's goal:
Ferrero Mangimi tasked FES with restoring a group of silos through a coordinated series of specialised treatments aimed at:
Removing incrustations and surface residues.
Protecting the structures from corrosion.
Restoring both the functional and aesthetic integrity of the silos.
This intervention was designed to extend the silos’ service life significantly while reducing future maintenance needs.
Our services
Non-aggressive chemical washes at high and low pressure were applied to remove dirt, deposits, and pollutants from metal and industrial surfaces without compromising structural integrity.
Mechanical cleaning of surfaces using compressed-air abrasives to remove rust, scale, old paint, and impurities, creating a rough profile optimal for coating adhesion.
Application of specialised powder paints offering superior chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, ensuring coating durability even in extreme environments.
Applied treatments prevent material degradation caused by chemical and atmospheric agents. These protective coatings extend the life and functionality of steel surfaces, forming a barrier against oxidation and aggressive substances.
Results
The treatment completely regenerated the silos’ appearance and performance, enhancing efficiency and minimising the need for future interventions. Surfaces are now fully cleaned, protected, and compliant with the strict safety standards required in the food and feed industry.
