Mondojuve Shopping Centre
Turin, Italy
Located on the outskirts of Turin, Mondojuve Shopping Centre is one of the largest retail hubs in the Piedmont region in Italy. The complex was designed as a modern space for shopping and leisure, combining architectural innovation with the integration of natural and industrial materials. With its vast surface and contemporary design, the project enhances visitor experience while ensuring functionality and sustainability.
FES was entrusted with highly specialised works in surface preparation and protection, focusing particularly on the timber structures, a key architectural element of the complex. Our team carried out treatments aimed at safeguarding durability while preserving the natural aesthetic value of the material in such a high-traffic and exposed environment.
The client's goal:
CGG S.p.A., required a complete treatment of the wooden structures, involving both surface cleaning and long-term protective coatings. The main goals were to enhance durability, improve fire resistance, and maintain the architectural identity of the shopping centre.
Our services
Mechanical cleaning of surfaces using compressed-air abrasives to remove rust, scale, old paint, and impurities, creating a rough profile optimal for coating adhesion.
Applied to load-bearing steel structures, intumescent coatings expand under heat, forming an insulating barrier in case of fire. All treatments were carried out in full compliance with fire safety regulations for public buildings and airport infrastructure.
Results
Through advanced sandblasting and fireproofing works, FES delivered perfectly finished timber structures, fully consistent with the architectural design of Mondojuve Shopping Centre. The treated surfaces now benefit from long-term durability, enhanced fire safety, and a refined aesthetic appearance, providing visitors with a safe and high-quality environment.
